What Happened in Chicago on July 2
Tragedy struck Chicago’s River North neighborhood late Wednesday night when a drive-by shooting killed four people and wounded 14 others outside a nightclub event. According to the Chicago Police Department, a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and fired multiple shots into a large crowd standing outside. Chaos erupted as people screamed and scrambled for cover while the vehicle fled the scene.

Who Are the Victims?
Four people were killed:
- Two men, ages 24 and 25 — both pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital
- Two women (ages not disclosed) — both pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital
The 14 injured individuals ranged from 21 to 32 years old. Three remain in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the back, leg, and mouth, while 10 others are reported to be in good to fair condition.

“My girlfriend got shot too,” Booth said. “They put her in one ambulance and then transferred her again…we’re still waiting for updates.”
What Was the Event?
The shooting occurred during a mixtape launch party for Chicago rapper Mello Buckzz. The event was being hosted at Artis Lounge when the vehicle pulled up and opened fire into the crowd. Buckzz later posted a statement on Instagram urging the public to “pray for the victims.”
